Mission Accomplished! Another very satisfied (and quite possibly the cutest ever) Robeson Design Client. Take a look at the amazing transformation of Amanda’s new and improved bedroom.

This custom designed hallway storage closet is a perfect example of how to turn a mundane household need into a beautifully crafted piece of furniture. Built into an empty niche space, this hardworking cabinet holds guest room linens, pillows and a step ladder with plenty of room for extras below in the full depth drawers. A soft fabric backing the metal grill hides the contents of the cabinet from passersby. Flanked by statement making sconces the hallway storage closet becomes a work of art.

Whether it be a sprawling home in the suburbs or a downtown condo our Clients always have one thing in common-They need more functional space! Our challenge is to find that space where it currently does not exist. This involves thinking outside of the box and coming up with innovative solutions to fill our Client’s needs.
For this active family of six this hallway book case is a perfect example of utilizing “dead space”.What could have easily been just another drywall pocket was turned into a functional book case for 4 growing kids. Acting as a library between bedrooms, books are easily accessed and displayed. Check back as we will be featuring more innovative storage uses from our projects.
Our Top Secret Mission: To transform an unorganized, non functional bedroom of a ten year old girl into a hip and happening, fully functional bedroom of her (and her parent’s) dreams!
Our biggest challenge? Completing the make over in just ten days while the family is away on vacation. This young girl has no idea that when she returns home she will be walking into a brand new bedroom, complete with new flooring, furniture, lighting fixtures, closet and shoe storage throughout.. The works!!! Here’s a glimpse at how the project began and the direction of where it is going.
The Before: As you can see, inadequate space for closet storage, the drum set and the bedroom furniture. The Upstairs loft area is such a cool and unique part of the bedroom, but completely under utilized due to lack of space planning and function.

The Proposed Design Plan: A functional closet wardrobe system, a designated loft study space for arts & crafts with tons of storage, a new larger bed, built-in shoe storage and best of all? A stage for this young girl to rock out on! All done on a 3-D design program which instantly gives our Clients a clear vision of the finished project.

No matter how far you may be from the coast accenting your home with nautical themes will keep the ocean close. It’s easy to include elements of this sophisticated style throughout your home.

In this featured project common Nautical motifs such as sailboats, coral and shells are used as accents throughout the bookcase. Framing old maritime maps and vintage photographs gives your home an “at sea” feeling. Color is also important in creating Nautical themed rooms. Pair your blue accents with softer surrounding colors so you don’t overdo it. Stained wood is reminiscent of classic ships and also provides a textural contrast to the natural sea scape elements.

What better way to accent a beautiful view than to add an interesting architectural element to your window? This large scaled iron piece provides a unique decorative touch to an already gorgeous view of blossoming bougainvillea.
When using architectural elements to decorate keep in mind proportion and materials in relation to the space where you are placing the objects. The scale of this iron piece is a perfect compliment to the size of the window while the transparency of the scroll work allows uninterrupted access of the view to the outside.

Summer is upon us and many will be playing host to out of town guests. What better way to make your company feel more welcome and at home then to provide them with the same comfort and amenities of a modern and luxurious hotel. This Guest Suite project highlights tips to give your guests the sense of being completely welcome.
*When it comes to the bedding in your guest bedroom think about comfort and texture. Give your guests the same sheets you would want. Make sure to provide them with extra pillows and blankets regardless of the time of year.
*Storage is key. Provide nightstands and a closet space for your guests to store their clothing. A bench placed at the end of the bed can be used as extra seating space or can be utilized as a luggage rack.
*Provide ample lighting for your guests. Clear the room of any clutter and place appropriate accessories, like a clock and stack of your favorite books, at the bedside for their enjoyment.
When decorating a child’s room it is important to keep in mind that they are often multi functional spaces. Not only do children want a space that is as fun and imaginative as they are , but one that also reflects their own personal tastes and style.
Children utilize their rooms in many ways; for doing homework, reading, playing and hanging out with friends and for storing and displaying their toys and favorite things. Ample storage and good lighting is a must for any child’s room. Providing shelving and a desk or chair space is a great way to organize your child’s room while providing them with a dedicated area for their activities.
The following project photos combine all of the above with bright and colorful paint accents, playful bedding and accessories. Each room is an expression of our young Client’s personality.
