There is nothing like summer in San Diego. Beautiful weather, great beaches, and tons of seaside decorating inspiration! To start off  your  fabulous seaside summer, no matter which coast you find yourself on, here are three design tips given to us by Rebecca and featured in the July 2009 issue of  San Diego Home & Garden Magazine.

Design Tip # 1

Whether it’s a beach shack or a beach villa,  start the season with a thorough cleaning to rid area rugs, bedding and window coverings of that musty, moldy odor created by seaside moisture. Then you and your guests will have a dream vacation.

Design Tip # 2

Accentuate that million-dollar vacation view. Install window treatments that cover walls, not windows, making windows appear larger, taller & wider. Address the sun/glare issue that causes fading and other furniture damage with roller or motorized shades that diffuse the light but don’t obscure the view. I prefer black or bronze because the eye sees right past them like a screen.

Design Tip # 3

Move  low sofa table or chest in front of a window and put glass objects, like vintage colored glass or a clear glass vase or lamp base, where window light streams through. You’ll enjoy them and still be able to enjoy the view.
